Nutri-Flo commenced operations in 1988. The founding members saw an opportunity to provide a comprehensive fertilizer service to the growers on the North Coast of Natal. The founders at the time preferred to develop a liquid fertilizer option of manufacture. The American Dealership TVA system of manufacture was followed. This system consisted of a slurry fertilizer suspended with clay in a liquid medium. This system proved highly successful until the late 90’s where anti competitive market behavior forced Nutri-Flo to develop another product that emanated from the distillation of molasses. Nutri-Flo then developed Condensed Molasses Solubles (CMS) as a fertilizer. CMS was to be used as a source of Potassium as substitute for Potassium Chloride. The Distilleries at the time had difficulty in disposing of CMS as it has high BOD and COD levels, this problem inhibited the growth of the distilleries thereby approximately 300’000 tons of molasses was exported from South Africa. Nutri-Flo’s, pioneering efforts in the development of CMS as a potassium chloride replacement has not only enhanced the growth of South African distilleries but also provides a excellent source of organically rich fertilizer for the depleted soil of our sugar industry.

With the expansion of the Distillation Industry in South Africa and Africa, Nutri-Flo together with it’s other associate companies will continue to develop the CMS fertilizer system to other parts of Africa. Nutri-Flo’s ideology is that African countries will be able to reduce the amount of imported fertilizer by adopting the Nutri-Flo techniques. Nutri-Flo intends to impart knowledge and expertise to the futuristic partners on the African continent.
